A Wellness Coach Listens
There are times in my life where I seek advice or support from an expert, a friend, a family member or a work colleague to get me through a really difficult time or a challenging situation.
Sometimes, yes, I need the expert to fix or solve a problem I am not equipped to handle on my own. But mostly what I really want, and need, is someone to just listen to me, really listen and not hijak my story and solve my problems, rather guide me to what I know is true, deep down inside. It really doesn’t surprise me that I always feel a new sense of clarity and inspiration after these conversations with others who’ve taken the time to listen to me.
Trusting your gut is the first step to really listening internally to what is best for you, but getting there is sometimes too hard on your own. When you are living in it, you don’t always see what is possible. Research has shown that our gut is our second brain. So, keeping our gut healthy is important, so we are able to make healthy decisions for ourselves.
Your body holds a lot of truths about many things and if you give yourself time to listen, the answers will unfold naturally.
When friends or clients come to me for support to help them through a health and lifestyle challenge, what I have come to understand is that they truly want me to listen to them too. And I promise, I will. Starting with what’s working or not working, we’ll explore how to create new habits, set boundaries, and discover what nourishment, not deprivation, feels like. To figure out what’s missing, where changes need to be made, and what it will feel like to not be sick of being sick and tired all the time, we need to tune out all of the internal and external noise, the confusing and conflicting messages about what is best for us and tune into our internal sense of self. It is here we find the answers. Make yourself a priority and discover what’s holding you back from not feeling at home in your body and life. Jump off the scale and the merry-go-round of feeling frustrated with never-ending disappointments, unfinished goals, and giving up when you don’t have immediate gratification or results. When life gets tough we resort to soothing ourselves in unhealthy ways, continually making excuses, judging ourselves for not committing to our goals and wasting precious time! Start listening to your body’s love language, forgive yourself for whatever it is you have done in the past and be kinder to your self right here in the present moment. I am here to help.
It’s taken me time to realize that reaching out for support is not a sign of weakness, but strength and courage. trusting
my intuition is where I find hope and the answers.
Hi, my name is Cathy Sullivan and I am a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Yoga Teacher. Like all of us, I have my fair share of challenges, both physically and emotionally. Here is how I practice self-care:
I lean on people in my life when I need support.
I care about the quality of my health and self-care as a way to keep me grounded and focused, with strength and ease.
When I need answers, I regularly make space in my schedule to pause and reflect. When I take this time to be still, minimize all the distractions out in the world for a beat, turn inward to ask the questions, I deeply listen and trust myself to know what I need.
Your time is valuable and precious so don’t waste it for a second. When life expects you to make so many decisions everyday, you need to have a set of core values, a solid foundation and dedicated practices of self-care that hold you up, keep you accountable, and provide you shelter and stability from the unexpected waves in life. We can create this stability together, for you to thrive and get on with your life.
Let’s connect if this sounds familiar, I would love to share how you can also use these tools, and more, to make sustainable transformation, daily and for a lifetime. You are worthy and deserving.
